SUMMARY

REA has implemented a mix of education based competitions and scholarships which have synergy with national curriculum outcomes and aim to excite young people about the Engineering Design and Manufacturing domains through advanced technology experiences. Each of the competitions has significant prizes!

The National Engineering Innovation Competition (NEIC)
The National Engineering Innovation Competition is offered to all engineering related faculties in universities and tertiary institutions across Australia. This program focuses on developing the creativity of engineering students utilising the world’s most advanced technologies.

The first in this series of competitions was conducted in 00/01 and 15 finalists were sent on a tour of some of the most advanced technological industries in the world !

The Schools Innovation Design Challenge
The (F1) Schools Innovation Design Challenge is a new competition commencing in 2003/04 and is offered to all High Schools across Australia. This program focuses on developing the creativity and innovation through a structured engineering Design and Technology project based on the development of a model racing car.

Students will gain an understanding of the modern manufacturing cycle (PLM – Product Life Management), through the opportunity to use the world’s most advanced software CAD / CAM to develop and manufacture their car designs.

The REA Forum Scholarships
These are provided for graduating students from Universities and High Schools who wish to pursue Engineering Design and Manufacturing Careers. The scholarship comprises of a six month paid placement in the workplace of one of the forums members or partners.

National Engineering Innovation Challenge for High Schools – Specifically provided for senior students for consideration as a ‘Major Work’ with similar aims and objectives to the NEIC. This is due for release in 2004.

Engineers Division for the Schools (F1) Innovation Design Challenge – This will be provided for the employees of the Industry Ambassador companies. It aims to encourage them to further collaborate with schools.
