Re-Engineering Australia Foundation

Study Tours

When students decide to get involved in competitions, they do so for many reasons, not always to win - however a significant prize can also be an alluring incentive. REA has offered many exciting and unique opportunities to program participants and the international study tour prizes have proven to be an experience of a life-time.

These tours provide learning experiences that are beyond the academic! Students experience new cultures, languages, food, transportation, customs, currencies and people, as well as learning how to respect others travelling as part of a group.

The major prize for the F1 in Schools Challenge sees the winning team/s competing at the World Championships including associated international travel and site visits to overseas industry leaders. REA has awarded over 50 students and their teachers from around Australia with this prize, visiting the United Kingdom, France and Malaysia.

The 2002 International Study Tour for REA National Engineering Innovation Competition winners group were taken to visit, explore and speak with technical specialists from:

  • Dassault Systemes (Innovation & Emerging Technologies Development Centre and Education Centre) Paris, France.
  • Dassault Aviation, Paris, France.
  • Chrysler, Detroit, USA.
  • The Boeing Company, Seattle, USA.
  • The Smithsonian Institute (Aviation), Washington, USA.
  • The Henry Ford Museum, Washington, USA.
  • The Greenfield Village Museum, Washington, USA.
  • The CATIA Operators Exchange (COE), Technology Conference, Palm Springs, USA.
  • Disneyland, Orlando, USA.

These are unique and invaluable initiatives, giving students of differing ages, backgrounds and abilities the opportunity to explore and learn from other parts of the world.
